新年度がはじまって一カ月が過ぎようとしています。新たなスケジュール、新たな生活に少しは慣れてきたでしょうか。少しゆとりを感じはじめたところで、皆さんには周りの人々に気を配るように心がけていただきたいと思います。
欧宝体育平台_欧宝体育在线-app下载は、教育と研究の両面で多文化共生社会の実現に貢献したいと考えています。皆さん一人ひとりにも、多文化共生に寄与する人になっていただきたいと願っています。
多文化共生には何が必要でしょうか。入学式では、新入生の皆さんに言語力を伸ばし、多様なバックグラウンドをもった人々と交流してほしいとお伝えしました。確かに共通の言語は欠かせないツールです。しかし、私は、それよりも大切な条件があると考えています。それは他者への思いやりです。受動的には寛容の精神であり、能動的には共感する能力です。
キャンパスは、実践をとおして思いやりを身につけていく場です。ここには、さまざまな国?地域から来ている学生にくわえ、さまざまな年齢の人々、さまざまなジェンダーをもった人々、さまざまなケアを必要とする人々が共存しています。みな、違った能力を身につけています。みな、必要とする思いやりが異なります。まずはキャンパス内から、誰に対しても思いやりをもって接するように心がけてください。
キャンパス内で見かける「歩きスマホ禁止」や「構内自転車走行禁止」などの貼り紙も、このような観点に立ってお読みください。歩行時に白杖や松葉杖、車椅子を利用している人がいます。誰もが安心して学べる環境をつくっていきましょう。

[Message from TUFS President] To all students (April 2025)
Nearly one month has passed since the start of the new school year. I hope that you are getting used to your new routine. I also hope that you are being mindful of others around you as you settle into your new life.
It is the mission of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies to contribute to building peaceful and harmonious multicultural societies. I am looking forward to seeing each of you becoming the builders and guardians of such communities.
What do you think is necessary for a multicultural society? At the entrance ceremony this year, I advised you to sharpen your linguistic skills and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. A common language is surely an indispensable tool for communication. However, I believe that there is something more crucial than a common language. It is consideration for other people. I mean tolerance, as a passive attitude, and empathy, as an active ability.
Our campus has a suitable milieu to develop such a mindset. Students from various countries and regions, people of various ages, people with various types of gender identity, and people with various needs are studying and working together on this campus. We all have different abilities. And therefore, the accommodations we need are different. Please treat others with respect and consideration, starting from within our campus.
You will find posters saying “No texting while walking” or “Cycling prohibited on campus” around our campus. Read them with what I have told you so far in mind. Some of us are using white canes, crutches, and wheelchairs. Let’s make our campus safe for everyone.
